Our Studios

The studios at Vine Academy are flexible spaces for work, learning, and play. Each studio is a tight-knit community of mixed-age learners who support each other and collaborate daily. This environment fosters a culture of respect and much of their character development occurs here.

Learner Driven environment

guided by the following principles:

  • Mixed age groups which not only offer a wide range of activities to spark children’s interest but also enable children to learn from others and learn by helping others.

  • Freedom for children to work at their own pace, without interruption, choosing from a range of activities that are developmentally challenging and appropriate.

  • Exploration is encouraged so that children find things out for themselves, make mistakes and correct them independently.

  • Respect for each child as an individual personality with unique talents.

  • Respect for others, the community and the environment.

SPARK STUDIO

This studio follows the Montessori curriculum and method, providing a strong foundational basis for our youngest students as they begin their hero’s journey. The goal of this studio is to spark an interest and curiosity in learning by providing an environment rich with self-correcting and hands-on materials to help foster their natural inclination at this age to refine gross and fine motor skills, build perceptual and language skills, and develop mathematical and scientific thinking. The Spark Studio Guides understand the high value of learning through play. Each day is structured with playtime and hands-on learning, both independently and collaboratively.

ELEMENTARY STUDIO

Here, students become ready to take the journey to become an independent learner. They learn how to set goals, work collaboratively, and love learning, while also helping and being helped by their friends in the studio. The goal of this studio is for students to develop responsibility of their own learning process, respect, proactivity, self-control, honesty, leadership, and growth mindset. Our guides also challenge our learners through their hands-on project-based Quests to master the tools and skills needed to solve problems in the real world.

Robotics Quest

Virtue that the studio will be focusing on:

Teamwork

This is the first Quest that we do each year because it is so important to “set the stage” for the year ahead.  Our Build the Tribe Quest is full of team building activities, getting to know fellow Heroes, learning the Acton philosophy, systems and processes, and having a ton of fun!  Over the course of this Quest, our tribe comes together, builds a contract and learns more about the Heroes they are journeying with this year.
